The Wilbur-Creston-Keller Wildcats fought the good fight in their overtime game against the Odessa Tigers on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Tigers 62-56. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Odessa to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jacob Scrupps, who scored 23 points along with 9 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Scrupps has scored at least 25% of Odessa's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dakota Steward, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 16 rebounds.
Wilbur-Creston-Keller's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Odessa, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wilbur-Creston-Keller will be home for the holidays to greet St. John-Endicott/LaCrosse at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Odessa will be home for the holidays to greet Mary Walker at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
