Hale Ray and Coginchaug Regional are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2021, but likely not for long. The Noises will head out to take on the Blue Devils at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hale Ray will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.
Hale Ray barely beat Bolton the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Noises were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over the Bulldogs on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Noises, who have now won 12 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Lily Jahne made a big impact no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three doubles, and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Maggie Janecek and Fenway Jankowski did most of the damage at the plate: Janecek went a perfect 1-for-1 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base, while Jankowski got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs Janecek has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Briella Dean, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Hale Ray always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .607. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bolton only posted an OBP of .125.
Meanwhile, Coginchaug Regional had just enough and edged out Middletown 4-3 on Thursday. The Blue Devils haven't had any issues with the Blue Dragons recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Like Hale Ray, Coginchaug Regional also got a great game from a two-way player: Emily Allen. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. Allen was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
Allen wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Taryn Adams, who went 1-for-3 with one run.
Hale Ray pushed their record up to 16-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for Coginchaug Regional, their record is now 10-8.
Both Hale Ray and Coginchaug Regional just can't seem to miss. The Noises have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.4 hits per game. However, it's not like Coginchaug Regional struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.3 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Hale Ray's way against Coginchaug Regional when the teams last played back in April, as Hale Ray made off with a 10-3 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Noises since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
