Rock County Christian is 5-0 against Mountain Top Christian since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. Rock County Christian unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell to Maranatha Baptist 59-54. Rock County Christian has not had much luck with Maranatha Baptist recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Despite their defeat, Rock County Christian saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Tony Thompson, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 18 rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Thompson has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last seven times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabriel Thompson, who scored 16 points along with seven assists.
Meanwhile, Mountain Top Christian took a serious blow against Maranatha Baptist two weeks ago, falling 78-43. While losing is never fun, Mountain Top Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 307th, while Maranatha Baptist is ranked 80th).
Rock County Christian's defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-3. As for Mountain Top Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.
Everything came up roses for Rock County Christian against Mountain Top Christian in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 64-30 win. With Rock County Christian ahead 64-30 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
