Two dominant guards in Ryan Huston and Braylon Wolfe are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The York Dukes will venture away from home to face off against the Grand Island Central Catholic Crusaders at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. York is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.8 points per game this season.
Last Saturday, York ended up a good deal behind Northwest and lost 55-41.
Despite the loss, York got top-tier performance from Huston, who went 9 for 13 on his way to 21 points in addition to six boards and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Hayden Brungardt, who posted six points.
Meanwhile, Grand Island Central Catholic waltzed into their match on Saturday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They came out on top against the Cardinals by a score of 58-45.
Grand Island Central Catholic's win came from a few key players York will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Wolfe, who went 7 of 15 on his way to 24 points. The game was his third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Thomas Liban, who went 7 of 15 on his way to 18 points and five assists.
Huston wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Grand Island Central Catholic was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Doniphan-Trumbull only racked up 11 assists.
Grand Island Central Catholic pushed their record up to 10-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.0 points per game. As for York, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as York and Grand Island Central Catholic are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. York hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 55.8 points per game. However, it's not like Grand Island Central Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging 56.5 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
