Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for Konos Academy, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They fell 52-43 to the Knights on Tuesday. Konos Academy's defeat continues an unfortunate trend for the team, making it seven in a row.
Konos Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Preston Thornton, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Joshua Knapp, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds.
Calvary Christian found their leader in underclassman Tj Benson, who scored 24 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Benson has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. Liam Hocutt was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Konos Academy has not been sharp recently as the team's lost eight of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-14 record this season. As for Calvary Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-14 record this season.
Konos Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Calvary Christian, they will face off against Creekside Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Calvary Christian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 413th, while Creekside Christian Academy is ranked 95th).
