The Marian Central Catholic Hurricanes will head out on the road to square off against the Wheaton Academy Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Marian Central Catholic is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.1 runs per game this season.
Marian Central Catholic came out on top against Schaumburg Christian on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive 15-run sixth inning. The Hurricanes' pitchers stepped up to hand the Conquerors a 20-0 shutout. The win continues a trend for the Hurricanes in their matchups with the Conquerors: they've now won four in a row.

Conor Brandt made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. Brandt was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Mason Graf was a standout: he went 1-for-2 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Marian Central Catholic: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-13 otherwise. Adam Wrzos was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.
Marian Central Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are 2-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Wheaton Academy came tearing into Friday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 8-2 victory.
Josh Hilde looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jackson From, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Dallas Johnston, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Wheaton Academy now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Marian Central Catholic, their record now sits at 7-14.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Marian Central Catholic has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Wheaton Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 2.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Marian Central Catholic came up short against Wheaton Academy in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, falling 13-8. Can the Hurricanes avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
