Football Recap: Mauldin Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses on the Road + How To Watch

Mauldin had lost four games on the road dating back to last season, but after bumping their record up to 2-1 on Friday that streak is in the rearview. They snuck past the Fountain Inn Fury with a 21-16 win. 21 seems to be a good number for the Mavericks as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.

Mauldin found their leader in sophomore Kamari Cannon, who rushed for 137 yards and one touchdown on only eight carries. Cannon's longest rush was for an incredible 77 yards.

Mauldin was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 302 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fountain Inn only rushed for 197 rushing yards.

Mauldin didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Lucas Hagedorn and Mykhalil Cannon. Hagedorn has been hot for a while, having also posted five or more total tackles the last nine times he's played. Evan Hruska was another major factor on D, forcing one fumble and making 14 total tackles.

As for Fountain Inn, they now have a losing record of 1-2. They have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Several Fury players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Sam Holliday, who rushed for 123 yards and one score, and also threw for 125 yards and one TD. Fountain Inn's leading receiver Ben Ruwe was Holliday's top target yet again, picking up 83 receiving yards and one touchdown.

After each having a week off, Mauldin and Hillcrest will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:30 p.m. on the 19th. The game will give the Mavericks their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Fountain Inn, they will challenge Carolina Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
