Softball Recap: Shoals Sets Scoring Season-High Against Cannelton

Shoals was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 16-15 heartbreaker at the hands of the Cannelton Bulldogs. On the bright side, the 15- run performance marked the Jug Rox's highest-scoring match to date.

Peyton Harger and Hadley Haulk stepped up to the plate in a big way. Harger went 3-for-5 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI, while Haulk went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple marked the first that Haulk has hit this season. Dixie Riggins was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Shoals' defeat dropped their record down to 0-10. As for Cannelton, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

Coming up, Shoals is taking a road trip to square off against Washington at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Cannelton, they will be playing at home against South Central at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rebels have averaged an impressive 6.1 runs per game this season.
