Bruce is 1-9 against Houston since December of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Bruce Trojans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Houston Hilltoppers at 7:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 64-32, which was the final score in Bruce's tilt against Lafayette on Tuesday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Bruce in their matchups with Lafayette: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite the defeat, Bruce had strong showings from Dannon Campbell, who scored 12 points, and Kobe Hooper, who scored 6 points along with 5 rebounds. Campbell scored a full 37.5% of Bruce's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Houston, who are still winless after their sixth match. They were dealt a 81-52 loss at the hands of Pontotoc on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Houston can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 245th, while Pontotoc is ranked 99th).
Bruce now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Houston, their loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 0-6.
Bruce didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Houston in their previous matchup last Saturday, but they still walked away with a 53-48 victory. Does Bruce have another victory up their sleeve, or will Houston turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
