The Northeastern Eagles will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Currituck County Knights at 7:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Northeastern comes in on six and Currituck County on four.
Northeastern scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They really took it to Manteo for the full four quarters, racking up a 108-67 win on the road. Northeastern has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 23 points or more this season.
Sayvion Saunders was his usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 30 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Tyell Saunders was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with five steals.
Meanwhile, even though Pasquotank County scored an imposing 68 points on Friday, Currituck County still came out on top. Currituck County walked away with a 75-68 win over Pasquotank County. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to rack up seven more assists than your opponent, as Currituck County did.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Currituck County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Luke Morgan, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 rebounds. Morgan hasn't dropped below 11 rebounds for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Malcolm Cowell, who scored 20 points along with two steals.
Northeastern has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. As for Currituck County, their win bumped their record up to an identical 14-7.
Northeastern beat Currituck County 58-51 in their previous meeting back in January. Will Northeastern repeat their success, or does Currituck County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
