The Elk River Elks will head out on the road to challenge the Robbinsdale Armstrong Falcons at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Elk River has struggled recently with 11 losses in a row, while Robbinsdale Armstrong will arrive with six straight wins.
Last Wednesday, Elk River came up short against Anoka and fell 66-53. While losing is never fun, Elk River can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 251st, while Anoka is ranked 110th).
Meanwhile, even though Roosevelt scored an imposing 59 points on Friday, Robbinsdale Armstrong still came out on top. Robbinsdale Armstrong beat Roosevelt by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 83-59.
Elk River's defeat was their tenth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-16. As for Robbinsdale Armstrong, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season.
Elk River strolled past Robbinsdale Armstrong when the teams last played back in February of 2023 by a score of 71-57. The rematch might be a little tougher for Elk River since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
