Baseball Recap: Hernando's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Tuesday

It was a good run, but Hernando unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Oxford Chargers by a score of 4-3. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Chargers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Preston Johnson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Cade Kozcka made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Axton Westmoreland was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

Hernando's defeat dropped their record down to 13-8-1. As for Oxford, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-10.

While Hernando had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
