Calvary Baptist Academy (Shreveport, La.) took the final lead of the game on Saturday as Fitzwater ran for a touchdown with 10:00 to go, bringing the team to victory over
West Monroe (La.) 40-29.
The Rebels pulled ahead on a Bradford touchdown run, and subsequently went into halftime leading 21-16. The Cavaliers took the lead for good with a touchdown run by Fitzwater in the fourth quarter.
Despite scoring 10 points in the third, Calvary Baptist Academy still trailed by 3 points going into the fourth quarter. But 14 points in the fourth helped CBA pull out the victory.
Fitzwater stood out for the Shreveport school in the win. The senior quarterback threw two touchdowns and ran for one touchdown.
West Monroe's Michael Mims was the standout player for his team. The senior quarterback ran for two touchdowns. His performance brought his touchdown total to three on the year.
The victory is a complete turnaround from last season's game between these two teams, which WM took, 37-0.
The loss comes after West Monroe defeated Byrd 38-14 last week.
Calvary Baptist Academy (2-0) goes up against Carencro in a non-conference game matchup next week, while West Monroe (1-1) locks horns with Madison Central also in a non-conference game.
