After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Green River, the Whitehorse Raiders were happy to have found some success on Friday. They had just enough and edged Monument Valley out 60-58. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Lyric Phillips continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 30 points. That makes it six consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Whitehorse's points. Another player making a difference was Larenz Tsosie, who scored 15 points.
Joshua Hicks and Braxton Goodshield certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Hicks scored 22 points, while Goodshield scored 18 points. Melias Cly was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
The victory got Whitehorse back to even at 8-8. As for Monument Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-13.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Pinnacle the next time they take the court. Whitehorse will host the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Cougars will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
