Bishop Hendricken is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Rhode Island's top teams: La Salle Academy, who was ranked ninth at the time (Bishop Hendricken was ranked tenth). The Hawks came up short against the Rams on Thursday, falling 3-0. The Hawks have struggled against the Rams recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost meeting.
The defeat didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: La Salle Academy scored at least 17 points in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-17, 25-20.

Despite the loss, Bishop Hendricken had strong showings from Jackson Kretzer, who had 21 assists, and Andrew Ramos, who had 12 kills, five digs, and one block. Ramos has been hot for a while, having posted five or more kills the last 21 times he's played.
Meanwhile, Cranston East unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They lost 3-0 to North Kingstown. The contest marked the first time this season in which the Thunderbolts were not able to get on the board.
Cranston East was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-18, 25-16.
Cranston East's defeat dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Bishop Hendricken, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6.
