The Columbus East Olympians took care of business in their home opener on Tuesday. They snuck past Whiteland with a 57-53 win. For Columbus East, this counts as revenge for the 69-50 loss Whiteland walked away with the last time they faced one another back in November of 2022.
Columbus East found their leader in underclassman Carter Patterson, who scored 23 points along with 6 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Keaton Lawson, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds.
Columbus East's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Whiteland, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Columbus East will take on Trinity Lutheran at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Whiteland, they will head out on the road to face off against Plainfield at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Plainfield focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Saturday.
