The Mulberry Grove Aces's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City, falling 66-38. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Mulberry Grove has scored all season.
Mulberry Grove's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jackson Icenogle, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds. The game was Icenogle's ninth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Bauer, who scored 11 points.
Even though they lost, Mulberry Grove were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City only pulled down nine offensive rebounds.
Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was AJ Radloff out in front who scored 22 points along with five rebounds. Those 22 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Clayton Wojcik, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds.
Mulberry Grove's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.
Mulberry Grove will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Ramsey at 3:00 p.m. on December 16th. Ramsey is on a three-game streak of home losses, Mulberry Grove a 13-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change. Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Patoka at 4:30 p.m. on December 16th.
