The Heights Bulldogs waltzed into their match on Wednesday with five straight wins but they left with six. They came out on top against Chavez by a score of 70-60. Given Heights' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 516th, while Chavez is ranked 1072nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Heights had a senior duo take command as Conor Mccarthy scored 17 points along with six rebounds and three steals and Lamont Robins scored 19 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mccarthy has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Anthony Sadler, who scored 14 points along with three steals and two blocks.
Heights has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a massive bump to their 13-14 record this season. As for Chavez, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-13.
Heights will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Lamar at 10:00 a.m. As for Chavez, they will head out on the road to square off against Westside at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
