The Melba Mustangs will venture away from home to take on the Weiser Wolverines at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Melba has three straight wins, Weiser has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Melba is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 19-1 margin over Glenns Ferry on Wednesday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Mustangs with their most commanding win of the season.

Aden Arrington was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Arrington was even better at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Ty Aggen was excellent, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with four stolen bases, four runs, and one triple. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Max Jones, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
Melba always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .743. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Weiser fell victim to Cole Valley Christian and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They lost 16-0 to the Chargers. The game marked the first time this season in which the Wolverines were not able to get on the board.
Melba's record now sits at 3-1. As for Weiser, they now have a losing record of 2-3.
Melba's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's matchup. The Mustangs have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Weiser, though, as they've been averaging only 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Melba continue to outrun the ball?
Melba couldn't quite get it done against Weiser when the teams last played back in April of 2023 as they fell 13-8. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
