The Conard Red Wolves had already won 11 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22 points), and they went ahead and made it 12 on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 61-47 win over Berlin. Given Conard's advantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked fourth, while Berlin is ranked 41st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Several Redcoats players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brooke Walker, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. Walker has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last six times she's played. Emma Ellison was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with eight rebounds.
Conard's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.8 points per game. As for Berlin, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Conard will take on Simsbury at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Berlin, they will play host again and welcome Bristol Central, where tip off is scheduled for 6:45 p.m. on Monday.
