Sheridan didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Brody Heck and Chance Spencer. Heck has been hot recently, having also posted at least one defended passe the last four times he's played. Sheridan got some further help from Hayden Alexander: he picked up a sack and made ten total tackles (2.0 for loss).
Meanwhile, Cloverdale blew past Tindley, posting a 61-6 victory.
Sheridan better keep an eye on Keshaun Taylor. He was instrumental in Cloverdale's win, rushing for 132 yards and three TDs while picking up 8.3 yards per carry. They are 6-2 when Taylor posts two or more rushing touchdowns, but 1-2 otherwise. Trey Schabel was another key player, picking up 39 receiving yards and a pair of scores.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Cloverdale's defense and their nine sacks. T.J. Hamilton led the group effort, picking up five of those sacks all by himself. Tytus Killion got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Special teams was a major factor in the game for Cloverdale, racking up 11 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Isaiah Blackwell, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Sheridan's win bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Cloverdale, their victory bumped their record up to 7-4.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Sheridan has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 248.3 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Cloverdale struggles in that department as they've been averaging 191.8 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for Sheridan against Cloverdale in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, as the squad secured a 42-14 win. Will the Blackhawks repeat their success, or do the Clovers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
