Hauser is 10-0 against South Decatur since December of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Hauser Jets will head out on the road to face off against the South Decatur Cougars at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Hauser focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Saturday.
Last Saturday, Hauser came up short against Beech Grove and fell 50-37. While losing is never fun, Hauser can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 357th, while Beech Grove is ranked 158th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Braelyn Williams, who scored 12 points. Another player making a difference was Erykah Everroad, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, South Decatur was just a bucket shy of victory on Saturday and fell 33-32 to Oldenburg Academy. South Decatur has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
South Decatur's defeat came about despite a quality game from Molly Eden, who scored 8 points along with 8 rebounds.
Indianapolis Lutheran's victory bumped their season record to 0-0 while Hauser's defeat dropped theirs to 3-6.
Thursday's contest is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Hauser have been dynamite from deep this season, having only made 33.4% of their threes per game. However, it's not like South Decatur struggles in that department as they've made 37.6% of theirs this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out. Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other basketball content.
Hauser strolled past South Decatur when the teams last played back in December of 2022 by a score of 55-41. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hauser since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
