St. Petersburg Catholic and the Mustangs are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2020, but not for long. The St. Petersburg Catholic Barons will be playing in front of their home fans against the Northside Christian Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Petersburg Catholic knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four contests -- so hopefully the Mustangs like a good challenge.
Even though Cambridge Christian scored an imposing 72 points on Thursday, St. Petersburg Catholic still came out on top. St. Petersburg Catholic snuck past the Lancers with a 78-72 win.
It was another big night for Nick Berry, who dropped a double-double on 40 points and 16 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of St. Petersburg Catholic's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tj Newton, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Northside Christian suffered a rough 72-47 defeat at the hands of the Warriors on Friday. Northside Christian was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 53-20.
St. Petersburg Catholic is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 9-16 record this season. As for Northside Christian, they dropped their record down to 6-18 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.
St. Petersburg Catholic beat the Mustangs 77-64 in their previous meeting back in January. Does St. Petersburg Catholic have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mustangs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
