The Taunton Tigers will face off against the Bishop Feehan Shamrocks at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Taunton will come into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.
Taunton is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Massachusetts' top teams: Xaverian Brothers, who was ranked 18th at the time (Taunton was ranked third). The Tigers walked away with a 5-1 win over the Hawks on Saturday.
Johnny Escobalez made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, Taunton let Cam Dorr and Dylan Keenan run wild. Dorr went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Keenan went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Joseph Benoit, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, it may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Bishop Feehan ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Durfee 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Shamrocks have posted since May 10, 2024.
Bishop Feehan also got a great performance from Jack Gasse as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over seven innings pitched.
At the plate, Bishop Feehan saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jake Webster, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI. Andrew Hosford was another, getting on base in two of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Taunton pushed their record up to 9-0 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.4 runs over those games. As for Bishop Feehan, their win bumped their record up to 5-2.
