The Marshall County Tigers will take on the Siegel Stars in a holiday battle at 4:00 p.m. on Friday at. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Marshall County ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They came out on top against Hickman County by a score of 72-64. The score was all tied up 27-27 at the break, but Marshall County was the better team in the second half.
Jabrae Howard was his usual excellent self, going 9 for 12 from beyond the arc en route to 32 points and 1 assists. Those 32 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Marcus Oneal, who scored 12 points along with six assists and six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Siegel waltzed into their game Wednesday with nine straight wins but they left with ten. They walked away with a 67-60 victory over Pope John Paul II.
The victory makes it two in a row for Marshall County and bumps their season record up to 7-2. As for Siegel, they pushed their record up to 11-2 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home.
Marshall County was dealt a bruising 84-49 loss at the hands of Siegel when the teams last played back in November of 2018. Can Marshall County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
