The Salome Frogs scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They breezed by North Phoenix Preparatory Academy on the road to the tune of 57-9. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Salome has managed all season.
Salome's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kaniece Thomas led the charge by dropping a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds. Thomas set a new season high mark in steals with three. Another player making a difference was Grecia Leon, who scored 14 points along with six steals.
Despite the loss, North Phoenix Preparatory Academy still got an impressive performance from Ellaina Wakeham, who scored four points along with 11 rebounds and three blocks. Wakeham is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played.
The victory makes it two in a row for Salome and bumps their season record up to 5-3. As for North Phoenix Preparatory Academy, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-5.
Salome will look to defend their home court on Thursday against St. David at 5:30 p.m. St. David has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. As for North Phoenix Preparatory Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against North Valley Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. North Valley Christian Academy's defense has only allowed 27.9 points per game this season, so North Phoenix Preparatory Academy's offense will have their work cut out for North Phoenix Preparatory Academy.
