Softball Game Preview: Okawville Rockets vs. Dupo Tigers

The Okawville Rockets are taking a road trip to challenge the Dupo Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Okawville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.

Last Thursday, Okawville came up short against Marissa/Coulterville and fell 10-7.

Kenley Hackstadt and Jilien Harre stepped up to the plate in a big way. Hackstadt went 1-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Harre went 2-for-4 with two triples, one run, and one RBI. Jaycie Buss was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Dupo also suffered a loss in their last game, falling to Red Bud by a score of 6-3. The Tigers have struggled against the Musketeers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Addison Thompson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Dupo saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kylie Kloess, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Okawville's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Dupo, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.

Okawville couldn't quite get it done against Dupo in their previous matchup back in May of 2019 as they fell 6-1. Can the Rockets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
