In what's become a running theme this season, the Minneapolis Southwest Lakers gave their fans yet another huge victory on Saturday. They claimed a resounding 72-44 victory over Richfield at home. Winning may never get old, but Minneapolis Southwest sure is getting used to it with their eighth in a row.
Richfield lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Desirai Chappell, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten steals. Ania Laduke was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with seven rebounds and five steals.
Minneapolis Southwest pushed their record up to 16-3 with that win, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 35.77 points. As for Richfield, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Minneapolis Southwest will square off against Henry/Minneapolis North at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Henry/Minneapolis North's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three contests. As for Richfield, Richfield and Fridley will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
