Berkeley extended the longest winning streak in West Alameda County - Foothill this week by beating the Dragons, 17-14. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Yellowjackets.
AKIL BORDELON was the best wideout in the league this week as Berkeley bested Bishop O'Dowd. BORDELON racked up five receptions for 55 yards. XAVIER NELSON helped Berkeley's passing attack out by catching two balls for 28 yards.
Corey Sails was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 151 yards on 14 carries as Encinal defeated the Dragons. Taivale Tautalatasi also contributed to the rushing game with 67 yards on the ground.
Berkeley's LAMONT SMITH and BORDELON have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading West Alameda County - Foothill in both passing and receiving yards. SMITH has thrown for 575 yards this season, while BORDELON, a 5-foot-8 receiver, has 17 catches for 255 yards. The Jets' Sails leads the league in rushing yards with 524.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Yellowjackets take on Castro Valley. As it stands, Berkeley is in fourth, while the Trojans are in second.
Encinal moved up to 422 from 464 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Joe Tenorio's team climbed the ranks as a result of beating San Leandro 25-21.
