The Zane Trace Pioneers fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They walked away with a 45-33 victory over Eastern on Wednesday.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Zane Trace to victory, but perhaps none more so than Haylynn Boggess-pierce, who scored 14 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Boggess-pierce has scored all season. Emma Houston was another key contributor, scoring two points along with seven rebounds and six blocks.
Zane Trace's victory ended a 14-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-13. As for Eastern, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-12.
Zane Trace will be playing at home against Southeastern at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Southeastern presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Zane Trace in Ohio (Southeastern is ranked 304th, while Zane Trace is ranked 685th). As for Eastern, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against South Gallia at 6:00 p.m. on January 25th. South Gallia knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matchups -- so hopefully Eastern likes a good challenge.
