Pullman is 8-2 against Deer Park since March of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Greyhounds will look to defend their home field against the Stags at 11:00 a.m. Pullman is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.6 runs per game this season.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Pullman and Clarkston, and Pullman kept the tradition alive. The Greyhounds blew past the Bantams 14-4 on Monday. The Greyhounds might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by seven runs or more this season.
Rocky Karino-Evans was excellent, going 2-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and one double. Braden Northcroft was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Pullman was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .381. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Deer Park came up short against West Valley on Wednesday and fell 9-4. The defeat continues a trend for the Stags in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost five in a row.
Deer Park saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isaac Wadleigh, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run.
Pullman pushed their record up to 12-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Deer Park, their loss dropped their record down to 9-9.
Saturday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Pullman has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .463. However, it's not like Deer Park struggles in that department as they've averaged .447. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Pullman was able to grind out a solid win over Deer Park in their previous meeting back in March, winning 12-9. Will the Greyhounds repeat their success, or do the Stags have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
