Blackwell had lost six straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 1-12 to make it seven. They lost 17-4 to the Crossings Christian Knights. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-2 on Monday.
Owen Ashford made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
As for Crossings Christian, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 6-1. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won four contests by eight runs or more so far this season.
On Crossings Christian's side, Cale Doughty made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over six innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave Doughty a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Crossings Christian got a massive performance out of Jake Robison, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That triple marked the first that Robison has hit this season. Malachi Kliewer was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Blackwell will take on Morrison at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Maroons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 11.3 runs per game this season. As for Crossings Christian, they will face off against Casady at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Cyclones have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.2 runs per game on average), something the Knights will no doubt try to take advantage of.
