After a string of 11 wins, the Monessen Greyhounds's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell just short of West Greene by a score of 46-43. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Monessen has scored all season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead West Greene to victory, but perhaps none more so than Darren Knight, who scored six points along with seven steals and six assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Lane Allison, who scored 21 points.
Monessen's defeat ended an 18-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-2. As for West Greene, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Monessen will take on Geibel Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Geibel Catholic is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for West Greene, they will be playing at home against California at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Vincent Manzella and Allison.
