The Burlingame Panthers on the road again on Wednesday and play against the Jefferson Grizzlies at 6:00 p.m. on January 17th. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Last Friday, Burlingame was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 44-40 to Menlo-Atherton. That's two games in a row now that Burlingame has lost by exactly four points.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Zack Kirk, who scored nine points along with five rebounds. Alain Kazarian was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Jefferson's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 74-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of Carlmont. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game on Wednesday (60), Jefferson still had to take the loss.
Burlingame has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-7 record this season. As for Jefferson, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-7.
Burlingame strolled past Jefferson when the teams last played back in December of 2021 by a score of 59-42. Does Burlingame have another victory up their sleeve, or will Jefferson turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
