The Turpin Cardinals will square off against the Guymon Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Turpin has given up an average of 9.4 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
It was a proper cat-fight when Turpin challenged Mooreland on Tuesday. The Cardinals fell just short of the Bearcats by a score of 13-12. That's two games in a row now that the Cardinals have lost by just one run.

Riley Fowler put in work while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and six unearned) runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time he's pitched this season. He was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four runs, one stolen base, and one double.
In other batting news, Alex Alvarado stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI and two runs. Daniel Ponce was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Guymon fell victim to Carl Albert and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Titans. The game marked the first time this season in which the Tigers were not able to get on the board.
Guymon saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Julius Villarreal, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
This is the second loss in a row for Guymon and nudges their season record down to 6-6. As for Turpin, they now have a losing record of 2-3.
Thursday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Turpin has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .504. However, it's not like Guymon struggles in that department as they've averaged .448. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Turpin might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from Guymon in their previous meeting on March 5th. Will the Cardinals have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
