The Triton Hawks will head out on the road to face off against the Seventy-First Falcons at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Triton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 160th, while Seventy-First is ranked 13th).
Last Friday, Triton came up short against Harnett Central and fell 10-3. Triton has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, Seventy-First put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They claimed a resounding 48-0 victory over Douglas Byrd on the road. Considering Seventy-First has won nine matchups by more than 27 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Seventy-First to victory, but perhaps none more so than Deandre Nance, who threw for 112 yards and two touchdowns while completing 100% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Shon Pone and his 81 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Seventy-First's victory.
Triton's loss dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Seventy-First, their win was their sixth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 10-0.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's match: Triton has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 279.3 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Seventy-First struggles in that department as they've been even better at 337.1 per game. It's looking like Friday's match might have some serious battles in the trenches.
