The Dayton Dust Devils fought the good fight in their overtime match against the Elko Indians on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 65-55 to the Indians. Dayton just can't catch a break and has now endured three losses in a row.
Dayton lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Ayisha Agee, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Agee has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Kennidi Smith, who scored 14 points along with three blocks.
Even though they lost, Dayton were working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Raquel Madigan was the offensive standout of the match as she scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and seven steals. That's the first time this season that she scored 15 or more points. Shaylen Garity was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Dayton's defeat dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Elko, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-8.
Dayton will be playing at home against Lowry at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Lowry is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games. As for Elko, Elko and Spring Creek will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 17th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Spring Creek focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Saturday.
