Softball Recap: Benet Academy Triumphs

Benet Academy won the last time they faced Batavia and things went their way on Saturday too. The Redwings walked away with an 8-5 win over the Bulldogs. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Redwings.

Avery Burns and Sophia Rosner did most of the damage at the plate: Burns went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI, while Rosner went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. That's the most doubles Rosner has posted since back in May of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Alaina Rosner, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.

Benet Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. They are a perfect 13-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Benet Academy's victory bumped their record up to 17-15. As for Batavia, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-20 record this season.

Benet Academy and Batavia could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Redwings (ranked 150th) will meet Providence Catholic (ranked 22nd) at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Batavia will face off against St. Charles East at 4:30 p.m. on Monday with a big rank disadvantage (281 vs. 8).
