The Mesa Ridge Grizzlies came tearing into Friday's contest with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22 points) and they left with even more momentum. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 60-58 win over Palmer. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Mesa Ridge has posted yet this season.
Mesa Ridge's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tevin Riehl, who scored 22 points along with five assists and five steals. Riehl's trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Tanner Widic was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with eight rebounds and five assists.
Several Terrors players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was J'twane Mike, who scored 19 points along with three steals. Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mesa Ridge will take on The Classical Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Classical Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 158th, while Mesa Ridge is ranked 28th). As for Palmer, they will be playing at home against Coronado at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Coronado focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Monday.
