Even though the Sweetwater Mustangs have not done well against the Sands Mustangs recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Sweetwater narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Sands 41-38. The win was nothing new for Sweetwater as they're now sitting on three straight.
Sweetwater's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mallory Gibson, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Braelyn Gaytan, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Sweetwater's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-7. As for Sands, they now have a losing record at 7-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sweetwater will be home for the holidays to greet Andrews at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Sands, they will play host again and welcome Westbrook, where tip off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
