Last Thursday, Cardinal Hayes escaped with a win against Green Tech by the margin of a single free throw, 66-65. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Cardinal Hayes.
Meanwhile, Christ the King waltzed into their game on Sunday with six straight wins but they left with seven. They took down Bishop Loughlin 69-52. Given Christ the King's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked second, while Bishop Loughlin is ranked 389th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
The victory got Cardinal Hayes back to even at 6-6. As for Christ the King, they pushed their record up to 11-1 with that victory, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season.
Cardinal Hayes was dealt a bruising 78-48 loss at the hands of Christ the King when the teams last played back in December of 2022. Can Cardinal Hayes avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
