The Hiram Hornets put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Paulding County by a score of 58-47. Given Hiram's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while Paulding County is ranked 181st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Paulding County's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alexus Wilson, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. Wilson scored a full 42.6% of Paulding County's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hope Johnson, who scored 14 points along with 9 rebounds.
Hiram pushed their record up to 6-0 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.3 points per game. As for Paulding County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hiram will challenge Carrollton at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Paulding County, they will head out on the road to face off against North Cobb at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
