Harvest Community hasn't had much luck against University Christian recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Warriors will head out to challenge the Christians at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Harvest Community is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 23-1 margin over Parsons Christian Academy. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Naomi Winburn made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Winburn was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since April 4th.

In other batting news, Harvest Community got a massive performance out of Bella Reding, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Reding has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Emilia Drozdzowski, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs.
Harvest Community hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in six consecutive games.
Meanwhile, University Christian got themselves on the board against St. Johns Country Day last Tuesday, but St. Johns Country Day never followed suit. They blew past the Spartans 10-0.
Like Harvest Community, University Christian also got a great game from a two-way player: Piper Tessier. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Tessier was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That stolen base was her first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dixie Tessier, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Lydia Smith was another key player, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Harvest Community's win was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 21-5. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.8 runs over those games. As for University Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season.
Harvest Community's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's contest. The Warriors have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 8.6 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for University Christian, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Harvest Community continue to outrun the ball?
Harvest Community suffered a grim 17-1 defeat to University Christian in their previous meeting back in February. Can the Warriors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
