The Garrett Railroaders can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They managed a 40-34 victory over Westview. The victory was just what Garrett needed coming off of a 42-22 defeat in their prior game.
Westview lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Bre Cory, who scored 11 points along with two blocks. That's the first time this season that Cory posted two or more blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Bontrager, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Garrett's victory bumped their record up to 5-13. As for Westview, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which is still a better percentage than their 4-15 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Garrett will face off against Bellmont at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Bellmont presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Garrett in Indiana (Bellmont is ranked 67th, while Garrett is ranked 289th). As for Westview, Westview and Angola will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
