The Apache Junction Prospectors suffered their biggest defeat since December 7, 2023 on Saturday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 58-36 walloping at the hands of Gila Ridge. Apache Junction has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
When it comes to explaining why Apache Junction lost, one person who can't be blamed is Omar Adam. Despite the final result, he scored 18 points along with two steals. That was a full 50% of Apache Junction's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Emilio Sabori was the offensive standout of the game as he scored 12 points along with eight rebounds. That's the first time this season that he pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Izaya Hernandez, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds.
Apache Junction's loss dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Gila Ridge, their victory bumped their record up to 4-13.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Apache Junction will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Coronado at 7:00 p.m. on January 10th. As for Gila Ridge, they will take on Yuma at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Yuma will be coming into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.
