Even though the Harrisburg Hornets scored an imposing 55 points on Saturday, the Rivercrest Colts still came out on top. Rivercrest walked away with a 68-55 victory over Harrisburg. Given Rivercrest's advantage in MaxPreps' Arkansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 57th, while Harrisburg is ranked 265th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Despite the loss, Harrisburg saw an underclassman step up: Jakobe Tate scored 17 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of JP Rowton, who scored 11 points.
Rivercrest's victory bumped their record up to 16-2. As for Harrisburg, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-17 record this season.
Rivercrest will play host again and welcome Newport, where tip off is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Newport is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for Harrisburg, they will head out on the road to square off against Osceola at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Osceola knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 16 matchups -- so hopefully Harrisburg likes a good challenge.
