This season hasn't been kind to The Memphis Cyclones, who are still winless after their ninth contest. They had to suffer through a rough 44-2 loss at the hands of Shamrock. Memphis has struggled against Shamrock recently, as their contest on Friday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Shamrock was led to victory by Terry Menefield and Philip Cook. Menefield picked up 154 receiving yards and three touchdowns, while Cook threw for 266 yards and six touchdowns while picking up 13.3 yards per attempt. Menefield's longest reception was for an incredible 79 yards. Braxton Allen was in the mix too, providing Shamrock with two touchdowns.
Memphis' loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 0-9. Sadly, the team can't blame their woes on tough opposition, as that stretch included 1-9 Quanah and 2-8 Boys Ranch (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 33.9% over those games). As for Shamrock, their win bumped their record up to 5-5.
Memphis does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Shamrock will head out on the road to face off against Gruver at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Gruver has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 212 points over their last four games.
