The Reed-Custer Comets lost against the Coal City Coalers back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The match between Reed-Custer and the Coalers wasn't particularly close, with the Comets falling 46-27. While losing is never fun, Reed-Custer can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 427th, while the Coalers are ranked 157th).
Despite the loss, Reed-Custer still got an impressive performance from Kaylee Tribble, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten rebounds.
Reed-Custer has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-14 record this season. As for Coal City, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 16 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 20-3 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Reed-Custer will take on the Lions at 6:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Coal City, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Manteno sitting on six straight victories and the Coalers on four.
