The Springfield Senators will head out on the road to challenge the Glenwood Titans at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Springfield is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
The matchup between Springfield and Sacred Heart-Griffin on Tuesday hardly resembled the 29-22 effort from their previous meeting. Springfield took a 65-49 bruising from Sacred Heart-Griffin.
Meanwhile, Glenwood came tearing into Tuesday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18 points) and they left with even more momentum. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Lanphier 51-23 at home. Given Glenwood's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 65th, while Lanphier is ranked 510th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Glenwood found their leader in underclassman Alexis Neumann, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Neumann is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last four games she's played. Ava Bobb was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Springfield's loss dropped their record down to 18-10. As for Glenwood, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 22-6 record this season.
Springfield came up short against Glenwood in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 43-33. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Neumann, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 15 rebounds. Now that Springfield knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
