The East Lake Eagles can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They managed a 40-36 victory over St. Petersburg. The victory was just what East Lake needed coming off of a 54-30 defeat in their prior game.
East Lake's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Chanya Deboy led the charge by scoring 15 points. That's the first time this season that Deboy scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rose Cline, who scored 11 points.
Despite the loss, St. Petersburg saw an underclassman step up: Quay Curry scored 14 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Another player making a difference was Nique Slone, who scored six points along with two steals.
East Lake's win bumped their record up to 8-6. As for St. Petersburg, they now have a losing record at 7-8.
East Lake will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Mitchell at 7:30 p.m. on January 24th. As for St. Petersburg, they will be playing at home against Pinellas Park at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
